Today's question: Most of us book bloggers like to write book reviews- if we don't love to write book reviews- but here's today's question. When it comes to LT (and your blog), do you review every book you read? Do you just review Early Reviewers or ARCs? Do you review only if you like a book, or only if you feel like you have to? How soon after reading do you post your review? Do you post them other places- other social networking sites, Amazon, etc.?
My Answer: Great questions! Yes - when it comes to LT and my blog, I do review every book I read. In addition to sharing how I liked a book with others, I also use my blog as a documentation of the books I've read. It's a great way to remember some wonderful, and not so wonderful books! A special note here - most of the books I'm currently reading are review copies, so I really feel I owe it to the author and publisher to review it.
So far this year I only have one book that I haven't posted a review on. I didn't enjoy the book but felt it was well-written.
Typically I post the review within a day or so of finishing the book. Every now and then I write the review and sit on it so I can revise it as thoughts settle a bit.
Posting - I'm trying to perfect that! Yes - I post in multiple places, and here is what I do:
1. Post review to blog
2. Open my favorites list and click the folder that says 'book reviews' I then select the option to open the group, so each place has it's own tab and I can go from one to the next easily! (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, LT, GoodReads, Christianbook.com)
3. I then go through the tabs and add my review to those sites if applicable (not all are entered on the Christianbook site)
4. Close tabs, and add the book to my sidebar ~ it is rewarding to add the title to the sidebar after posting all those reviews!
I can't wait to see what everyone else is doing!!

Interesting, I could never review everything I read, I like reading so much more. Everyone seems to do things a little differently I see.
ReplyDeleteMy TT is up.
Like Sandra said, this is going to be interesting to see how everyone handles their reviews!
ReplyDeleteWow - you are so organized :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so organized! I post reviews in only one place, but I put links in other places.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Wendi. I've always envied people who were able to write reviews for every book they read. I've done better this year than I have in past years. Next year I will do better!
ReplyDeleteI like to sit on my review for a little while and then revise it before I post.
ReplyDeleteI review only books that I like. I'm not a fan of ARCs, but I will review them. I don't review everything I read, but I try these days...
ReplyDeleteOur answers are similar. I do post my reviews in more than one place too. :)
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing you do - I use my blog to review all the books I read, whether they are ARCs or not.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a great system Wendi. I am so unorganized.
ReplyDeleteWOW-I am not that organized! I just do it for pleasure, interesting to see what everybody does, though. Love your blog:)
ReplyDeleteI wish I was as organised as you. I'm always behind with reviewing books.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great system - I wish I could be so organised!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great system! I have a checklist on paper LOL!
