Review and Giveaway: The Reading Comfort Book Buddy

If you haven't had a chance to take a look at the Reading Comfort Book Buddy, now is your chance!

Pictures of my Book Buddy:

Picture 1: My book buddy at rest! Picture 2: With the clear acrylic desktop. Picture 3: Holding a Mass Market paperback. Picture 4: Holding a Trade paperback. Picture 5: Holding a Hardback book. Picture 6: My Book Buddy fits perfectly in the side table between our two couches when I'm not using it.

From the Reading Comfort Book Buddy official page:

The Book Buddy™ holds both hardcover and softcover books in place with adjustable ribbons for hands-free reading. The special filling in the pillow makes any book feel practically weightless.

Each Book Buddy™ comes with a sparkling clear acrylic desktop that slips into place and converts your reading pillow into a writing desk. The durable desktop also serves as a handy platform for your laptop computer, keeping the warm surface off your legs and elevating the computer to a position that most people find perfect for both reading and typing. Simply slide your laptop under the diagonal ribbons to safely secure it the most comfortable position.
My Thoughts:

- The Book Buddy is very comfortable
- The Book Buddy pillow is big enough to easily hold books (both hardcover and paperback) of different sizes
- The ribbons that hold the book/plastic base in place are easy to use, even with one hand
- The plastic base for use when taking notes or using a laptop is AMAZING! - The Book Buddy is beautiful
- When not in use, the Book Buddy acts as a nice accent pillow
- The Book Buddy is portable and can be taken everywhere, even on a plane or in the car. . . at the pool, at the library, in the office. . .

As a reader, the Book Buddy makes reading more comfortable. I don't know many people who can rest a book on their lap and not end up with eye-strain or a stiff neck. The Book Buddy brings the book a little closer and allows you to angle your book to avoid strain. Not only that, but if you need to put your book down in a hurry, it helps you by keeping the book open to the page you were reading.

As a blogger/laptop user, I have found the Book Buddy to be indispensable! I blog with my laptop, and I typically have it on my lap as the dining room table is a little too high for comfort. Prior to using the Book Buddy with the included clear acrylic desktop, my wrists would become sore from the angle I was typing at, and if I had my laptop on my lap, I would inevitably block the airflow into the computer causing it to become hot! The Book Buddy has brought my laptop to a comfortable position AND allowed air to continue flowing under it. Not to mention I can even comfortably use my laptop while sitting in my lawn chair and enjoying the nice warm weather we are having!

The Book Buddy Makes a Great Gift for:
- The book lover in your life (especially if they already have a lot of books!)
- The person in your life who regularly uses a laptop
- The person in your life who writes a lot of notes
- The person in your life who enjoys drawing (the clear acrylic desktop is a great surface to work on!)
- The student in your life (take notes, read those heavy books, etc)
- The person you know who is confined to bed (ie - bedrest in the hospital - I was there for FOUR months and really could have used this!)
- Birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day (YES - they have some masculine Book Buddy's too!), Christmas, etc
- YOU!

Additional Facts:
- Prices range from $19.95 to $29.95
- The adjustable ribbons keep your book/laptop/desktop secure and allow for hands-free reading
- The Book Buddy comes with a clear acrylic desktop
- You can purchase coordinating items in many patterns: Lap Blanket, Elegant Paperweight, Elastic Bookmark, Glittermark, and Classy Book Covers

Elastic Bookmark:
I also had the opportunity to try out the Elastic Bookmark.

From the Reading Comfort site:

Each elastic 4-ribbon bookmark is beautiful and practical

How many times have you picked-up your book to read and your bookmark fell out, leaving you unsure where you left off. These are the bookmarks you won’t loose or misplace!

This innovative bookmark is expandable, and has been carefully designed and crafted to be used only on hard cover books. It stretches over the front cover of your book and will adjust to the size of most books. With it's unique ribbon concept, these four-ribbon bookmarks will hold up to four places at the same time. Whether you are looking for elegant bookmarks, fabric bookmarks, unique bookmarks or ribbon bookmarks, you will find we have the book reading accessories you need.
The elastic portion of the bookmark fits snugly on the cover of the book, and you use the four ribbons to mark different spots in the book. The bookmark is absolutely beautiful! I could see myself using this the most with cookbooks (you know, you always have 3-4 FAVORITE recipes that you always need to look up in the index!), the Bible, reference books and photo albums. I could also see book reviewers or book club participants using this bookmark to keep track of passages within the book they want to refer back to.

  1. I love the idea of a book buddy!! I think the thing I like best about it is that it holds the book open for you - as a student - and one who likes to do their homework in the recliner - this would be fantastic. I am always having to hold the book open while trying to take notes - very hard to do.

I also like the fact that it comes with a hard desktop - I think that would be a great addition to my laptop/blogging experience.

I follow this blog in Google Reader and I will be posting about this contest in my sidebar of my blog!!

  5. I love the book buddy! I like several things about The Reading Comfort Book Buddy. The fabric is beautiful! Another thing that I love about it is that it is designed to keep your book from getting bent or torn up. I love to read at night sitting on the family room sofa. Sometimes I drift off to sleep and the book ends up in the sofa cushions or on the floor. The book buddy would be ideal because it would keep the book in good shape. It also looks great for holding the book on your lap as you read.

Thanks for this great giveaway! Please enter me in the contest.

  10. This book buddy was the best idea. I was hoping someone would eventually offer one in a giveaway! The feature I like the best is the acrylic top you can add. It makes a great surface to pay bills on while watching TV or to browse the internet on a laptop while watching TV.

I love to read in bed and i think this would be great to hold the book in place. I have ended up falling asleep in bed and the book either gets shoved around on the bed (rollled over etc) or lands on the floor. This would be perfect to keep the book in place. Nothing worse then falling asleep and loosing your place in the book.

  47. I would love to win a book buddy. On March 7, 2006, I fell at school and injured my right shoulder and my neck. After three surgeries, the shoulder has yet to heal and is tearing again. They haven't even started on the neck yet. The book buddy would make reading for me so much easier as I am right handed and really can't hold things for very long with that hand. Plus, I have also developed a tremor in my right arm which makes holding things difficult.
