Perplexus: 3D Maze For Everyone - Fun, Challenging, Relaxing, See How Far You Can Get!

Our family and friends have been having fun playing with the Perplexus Rookie for a while now, so when I brought out the Perplexus Puzzle Game, everyone argued over who would get to play with it first.  As each person took turns, the house was pretty quiet... for quite a while!  When my Mom stopped by for a visit, she gave it a try and told me she needed to get one because it helps her relax!  (I asked her what she meant, and she told me that she finds it relaxing because it takes concentration, but it is enjoyable, so she is able to block out everything else and ... relax while having fun!)

I have left the Perplexus and Perplexus Rookie on our coffee table and still wonder at how often people stop and ignore everyone else in favor of playing the amazing 3D puzzle games.  I've had people sit for what seems like hours playing these games, and they always love coming back and picking up the games.

LOL - I have to warn you here, my biggest frustration is that sometimes, people wanting a turn get a little impatient, so they bump into me (or another player) so the ball drops and they can have a turn!

This fun 3D puzzle is fun AND it is great for improving dexterity, thinking, problem solving, sharing, quiet-time, providing entertainment at get-togethers, etc.

In the box: You will get a little plastic stand to set the Perplexus on when it is not being used.  You will also get the 3D Puzzle Game itself.  The stand keeps the ball from rolling away, and also lets you pause your puzzle as long as no one else comes along to pick it up.

The Perplexus is a fully enclosed plastic ball that is filled with a 3D puzzle.  This version has 3 different puzzles inside the ball (with a total of 100 different barriers to travel), so you get to choose which you want to do by placing the little metal ball in the start of the one you want.  The object of the puzzle is to navigate a small steel ball through the maze from start to finish without the ball falling off the maze.  The game says for 6+, but our five year old really likes it too, so I'd say that you can probably go a little younger than suggested.

There are three versions of the Perplexus available: the Original, Rookie and the Epic Perplexus!

Unlike traditional flat-surface mazes that are composed of one path, PERPLEXUS houses various challenging tracks with 100 barriers providing a frustrating three-dimensional experience. Players select the track they would like to attempt and must work with gravity to carefully shift, flip, and twist the sphere to guide the marble. Players can race each other or the clock.

The concept behind PERPLEXUS was created by 3-D design teacher Michael McGinnis in the late 1970′s as a project for an art class. Michael envisioned turning his creation into a toy. He had no idea this vision would turn into a decades long odyssey to get the game to market.

After almost 20 years, Michael met the inventors at KID Group, one of the premier inventing houses in the toy industry. They collaborated on the design to make it more suitable for consumers. It was finally ready. The original product was marketed as Superplexus.

Through many twists and turns in the toy industry, Superplexus got tangled up in some changes and ended up being shelved just as it was getting started. But that isn’t the end of the story…

In 2008, a group of enthusiasts contacted KID Group about licensing Superplexus. Busy Life, LLC acquired the rights to Superplexus and launched PERPLEXUS in its current form.
