Quick Tip: Storing Plastic Easter Eggs - Saving Space and Money

Ok, so Easter is over (and I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!), and now you are wondering what to do with all those plastic Easter eggs... I'm going to show you the trick I've done for the past few years to save both space and money.

All you need is a large Ziploc bag or two, your eggs, and 10-15 minutes.

You will save both space and money!  (Assuming you were like me and you used to donate or (gasp) throw them out if you didn't have room to store them.

You can fit about 40 regular sized plastic eggs into a Ziploc bag...

or you can open them and stack them together to fit about 80 in the bag!

This is the same 40 eggs that were in the first bag, only they have been opened and stacked to fit together more closely in the bag.  I was then able to fit 40 additional eggs into the same bag.  Some of the eggs were the larger ones, and a few were the smaller ones, which is why I'm claiming to be able to put about 80 total regular eggs into the large (Gallon Freezer Bag) Ziploc bag.

Here is my finished Ziploc bag of eggs... front and back to show you exactly what I was able to get in there.  All told, I was able to get a TON of eggs into three large Ziploc bags, and store the kids Easter baskets and various other holiday items into the same box that was only able to hold the eggs.  :)

Now see how many Easter eggs YOU can get into a Gallon Ziploc bag!

TEASER TUESDAYS :
hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading ~

Vampire Kisses: The Beginning (Vampire Kisses / Kissing Coffins / Vampireville)
It was Saturday evening. I was dressed in my Cure T-shirt and black boxers, watching Dracula in slow motion. I paused the part where Bela leans into a sleeping Helen Chandler and recalled the time Alexander kissed me on his black leather couch. I stared longingly at the screen and grabbed some more tissues.

Review: Tyler (The Secret Life Of Cowboys) by C.H. Admirand

Tyler (The Secret Life of Cowboys)
I fell in love with the characters in Tyler by C. H. Admirand.  Tyler is the man you want to be the cowboy next door.  He is nice, helpful, responsible, doesn't complain, and he is working hard!  Both in his "day" job at the family ranch, and at his second job... as a stripper/eye candy at The Lucky Star bar/ladies club, which is owned by a group of female cousins.  The cousins, Emily and Jolene are trying to keep the bar open, so what starts as a win-win for both Tyler and the girls ends up an even sweeter deal when sparks fly between Tyler and Emily.

This was a fun and entertaining book, that made me feel good about those guys that do still exist out there who look out for friends and family, who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty, and who do what it takes to make their dreams come true!  I loved the family feel I got as I read the story, with Tyler and his brothers, and Emily and her cousins.

I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series, Dylan (found on the author's site).

Edition Reviewed: ARE - Review copy received courtesy of the publisher, many thanks to both the author and the publisher for sending me a copy to review!

About the Book:
Desperate times call for desperate measures...
When Tyler Garahan said he'd do anything to save his family's ranch, he never thought that would include taking a job as a stripper at a local ladies' club. But the club's fiery redheaded bookkeeper captures Tyler's attention, and for her, he'll swallow his pride...

And one good turn deserves another...
Emily Langley feels for the gorgeous cowboy. It's obvious that he's the real deal and wouldn't be caught dead in a ladies' revue if he wasn't in big trouble. And when he looks at her like that, she'll do anything to help...
Working days on the ranch and nights at the ladies' club, Tyler is plumb exhausted. But could it be that his beautiful boss needs him just as much as he needs her...

About the Author: (from Amazon)
C.H. Admirand was born in Aiken, South Carolina. She has published 9 bestselling novels for the library market. Tyler is her tenth book and her first mass market release. She lives with her husband, who is the inspiration for all of her heroes' very best traits, in northern New Jersey.

Product Review and Giveaway: A Beautiful Freshwater Pearl Necklace From Pure Pearls (Worth $505) : Pearls Are a Girls Best Friend!

Pearls are a girl's best friend... regardless of her age. There is something simply wonderful in having and wearing them! There is something about their weight as you wear them around your neck, they are silky smooth, they simply glow, and they make you feel like a princess! They are also a wonderfully versatile piece of jewelry: you can wear them with a fancy dress (prom, wedding, formal, etc) just as easily as you can wear them with jeans and a nice shirt.

Let me start by telling you that I love the PurePearls.com site.  It is elegant, easy to navigate, and they have a huge selection of pearl jewelry in all price ranges.  They have a large assortment including: Pearl Necklaces, Freshwater Pearls, Pearl Sets, and even some great pearl jewelry for Men as well (just to name a few).  Pearls make wonderful gifts (My grandmother gave me her favorite pearl strand when I graduated, and I've worn them at every special occasion, including my wedding!), and can really create a special memory.

I was given the opportunity to choose a freshwater pearl necklace from among the Lavender, Pink, White, or multi-colored AA+ 6.0-7.0mm Freshwater Pearl Necklace strands.  Given the fact that I've never owned or worn lavender freshwater pearls, I chose this one
When it arrived, I felt like I was on top of the world.  Not only was my new pearl necklace inside an elegant (and very protective) velvet case, but the velvet case was nestled inside a white gift box.  The necklace came with a GIA Prepared Appraisal Certificate, and care instructions.

I have had the opportunity to wear my new pearl necklace on quite a few occasions, and each time I've gotten quite a few compliments, which made me feel really special.

Now, with the help of PurePearls.com, I get to help one of my readers feel special too... read on for more...

My E-Mealz Update: Week 1 - Big Portions, Fun New Recipes, ONE Trip to the Grocery Store... What's Not to LOVE?

Emealz - Easy Meals for Busy People! So, just a quick update... I am giving E-Mealz a try and will be reviewing it in May along with a great giveaway! Last week was my family's first week on the plan, and it was great.

I won't lie - I had a snag or two, but it wasn't due to E-Mealz, it was user error! Overall, it was a fun week. I saved a TON of time by not going to the grocery store every other day (or for some weeks, I swear I've gone every day), ... instead, I made it with only one trip... a first!

It was also a blast to try recipes I wouldn't normally do... using ingredients that I may have intentionally left out in the past.... (cough... ONIONS... cough) just to find out that the dishes they were in were WONDERFUL! Guess I won't be avoiding them anymore.

Stay tuned for more updates, as well as a few recipes as I go along. :)

Grow the Tree You Got: & 99 Other Ideas for Raising Amazing Adolescents and TeenagersGrow the Tree You Got: and 99 Other Ideas for Raising Amazing Adolescents and Teenagers ARC by Tom Sturges ~ Non-Fiction / Parenting / Child-Rearing ~ Available May 2011 ~ Received courtesy of the Publisher for review
A wise and inspiring guide to parenting through the extraordinary- and at times tumultuous-journey that is the adolescent and teenage years.

When Tom Sturges became a father, he decided that he wanted to be one of the greatest father that ever walked the earth. But things became a bit more complicated when his older son turned ten, and the chatty kid he'd known suddenly started locking his bedroom door. Tom realized he needed to find a way to stay on track-he needed crib notes. So, if a parenting idea of technique worked well, he wrote it down. And if he stumbled across something another parent did that was particularly ingenious or exemplary, he wrote that down, too. In Grow the Tree You Got, Tom presents golden rules" for raising happy, healthy, and compassionate adults. His mantra? It's impossible to show our children too much respect, but it's worth the effort to try.

If I Have to Tell You One More Time. . .: The Revolutionary Program That Gets Your Kids To Listen Without Nagging, Reminding, or YellingIf I Have to Tell You One More Time... The Revolutionary Program That Gets Your Kids to Listen Without Nagging, Reminding, or Yelling ARC by Amy McCready ~ Non-Fiction / Parenting ~ Available August 2011 ~ Received courtesy of the publisher for review
Put an end to painful power struggles with your children!

Why is it so difficult sometimes to get kids to listen? You ask your child to turn off the TV, do her homework, or get ready for school or bedtime. You know he heard you, but he ignores you. You ask again and still...no response. You've tried everything-time-outs, nagging, counting to three-and nothing seems to work.

In If I Have to Tell You One More Time..., founder of the popular online parenting course Positive Parenting Solutions Amy McCready presents a nag- and scream-free program for compassionately, yet effectively, correcting your children's bad behavior.

In this invaluable book, McCready shows parents how an understanding of the psychological theory espoused by Alfred Adler (1870-1937) can put an end to power struggles in their households. Adlerian psychology focuses on the central idea that every human being has a basic need to feel powerful-with children being no exception to the rule. And when this need isn't met in positive ways, kids will resort to negative methods, which often result in some of the most frustrating behavior they exhibit. If I Have to Tell You One More Time... provides the knowledge and tools parents need to address the deeper issues that inspire their children to misbehave. Read this book and rediscover the joy of parenting!

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and BackHeaven is for Real: A Little Boys Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent ~ Non-Fiction / Christian Life / Inspirational ~ Available Now ~ This was a SPECIAL request that I actually sent out to the publisher. You see, I had heard about this book, and I have a very personal reason for wanting to review and share this book on Wendi's Book Corner! It is all about HOPE... at least I hope it is, and that is what I'm going to find out and share... :)
A young boy emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven.

Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear.

Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "reaaally big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us.

Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.

Teaser Tuesday: The Healthy Home: Simple Truths to Protect Your Family From Hidden Household Dangers by Dr. Myron Wentz and Dave Wentz

TEASER TUESDAYS :
hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading ~

The Healthy Home: Simple Truths to Protect Your Family from Hidden Household Dangers
We're exposed to an astonishing number of chemicals every day, and we rarely think about the cumulative effects they might have on our health. When we stop to reflect on a particular product's ingredient panel, most of us shrug and assume, "It must be safe. They wouldn't sell it if it wasn't."

~ page 73 “The Healthy Home: Simple Truths to Protect Your Family From Hidden Household Dangers" by Dr. Myron Wentz and Dave Wentz

About the Book (from Amazon):
InThe Healthy Home, a father and son--Dr. Myron Wentz, well-known microbiologist and founder of the USANA Corporation, and Dave Wentz, CEO of the USANA Corporation--take readers on a tour of a specific home for a look at the surprising health risks posed by the everyday products and behaviors of a modern family. Beginning in the bedroom and ending in the garage and backyard, readers learn about the degenerative effects of toxins in the home and receive simple solutions to help minimize exposure without foregoing convenience.

The Healthy Homeis not a comprehensive tome on modern health hazards; nor is it a treatise on eco-conscious living. Instead, the book focuses on the most important environment--the home--and the problems that can most easily be lessened or eliminated. Busy parents who suspect that they should be doing more to protect their family but don't know where to start will learn about practical changes they can make in the next fifteen minutes, fifteen days, or fifteen months to create a haven for healthier living.

I always look forward to reading everyone's teasers! ~ Wendi
