Welcome to another week of Tuesday Thingers! We always love to hear from regular participants as well as new people.
This week we are going to take a peek at the styles of Your Library and how you can customize them. To see what I'm talking about, go to Library Thing, and click on the Your Library tab. Just under the tabs, you will find a section that says Styles, A, B, C, D, E, and then a symbol that looks like a pencil. If you click on the pencil, you can edit your styles, or the formatting of the pages that show your books' information.
I believe the standard information is the Title, Author, Date, Tags, and Comments. You then have the option to add ISBN, Common Knowledge fields, etc. . . there are 44 different options you can select from! Of the 5 styles (A,B,C,D,E), you can have up to 12 options per style.
You can also use this screen to change the number of books shown per screen, the style visitors will see when they view your library, and you can choose to show the book-swap column. These options are at the very bottom of the screen, just above the save button.
The book-swap feature will let you see which books you have in your library that others are offering or wanting to receive in a swap.
Questions: Have you explored the different styles? Have you customized any of the styles? If so, what are your favorite customized items (isbn, Dewey Decimal, Reviews, Book-Swap, etc)?
My Answer:
I've never really looked at the different styles, and don't really know what I would do with five different style pages. I guess I could edit one to show the Common Knowledge sections that I tend to enjoy, that way I could more easily fill in missing information (instead of clicking from book to book to see if there are any gaps, I would see them and click directly on the ones that needed more information. :)
Until today, I didn't realize that I could show my review on my Library page. I was so excited to see this as an option. I added that to my main style A so that I can see which books are missing the review. (I tried to add books and reviews the other night, using the quick edit selection on the add book tab, but it didn't record ANY of my reviews!! - Yes, I pressed the Save button).
Update: I just went back and edited Style B to show some of my favorite Common Knowledge sections!! :)
Looking forward to reading everyone's answers!!

I have to give this a try! I'm a member of Library Thing and I wasn't totally sure how it all work, but you helped me understand a lot more! Thanks!
CONGRATULATIONS - You'll soon have a new book for your Library Thing. :-)

Email me at ravenwrites74*at*yahoo*dot*com with your mailing addy and I'll try to get it shipped out this week.
And now that I've learned about LT from you, I'll have to check it out (no pun intended) myself. Do they offer LOC style? Dewey is fun but then my family can't find stuff. LOL
I hadn't known about that feature until I saw this post. I've gone in and poked around a bit, but other than adding a column for my review I've left it on default mode.
Mine is up!

One more feature that's new to me! Here's my answer.
I pulled myself away from fooling with the style of my library page to write up my answer, which is Right Here!
I've always been kind of annoyed with the page display, but I had no idea I could edit it!
My answer is here.
I never knew I could customize my library - I'll have to play with it some.
Mine is up!
I am going to check this feature out. I had no idea that you could customize things. Thanks for letting us know Wendi!
I love this week's question! I had no idea I could change the format. I was wondering if you could explain the book-swap column because I don't have that option.
Here's my post.
I forgot to subscribe to the comments, so I'm leaving another comment. :)
I love the customization options of LT! Here is my post.
Good question. This is something I discovered a while ago and then completely forgot. My answer is here.
I'll get over there and play with styles, etc soon. So much reading I want/need to do right now. Tough problems, huh? :)
I answered this on my blog...but basically I stick with the default setting but I also like to take stock of what I have by looking at the Dewey cagetorizations.
Here's mine!

Wendi I had a mishap with this feature of LT.
Here's my post.
Tuesday Thingers on Friday - and did you see that LT has made some style changes of their own this week?
