Yesterday was my birthday, and I had a great day with family and friends! This was the last gift that I opened from my husband and boys... with good reason. You see, I've had my eyes on this cute little kitchen gadget since well before Christmas, and my husband new that I wouldn't be able to resist trying it out as soon as the wrapping paper was gently removed (who am I kidding? It was the last gift! I tore into the wrapping paper!). He was right.
I had the little machine out and ready to go within minutes... and for the record, I DID read the instructions. The mini donut maker is has a non-stick coating, so all I had to do was spray it once with cooking spray (I used Pam). It heats up really quickly. I found it easier to put the dough into a Ziploc baggie and snip the end to make a piping bag. I found that I didn't overfill the little donut molds when I did it this way. We (my 4 year old and I) made the recipe that came with the donut maker, and it was quick and easy. The donuts only took about 3 minutes to bake, and they came out nice and golden! I then removed the little donuts using some bamboo tongs and we dipped them in butter, then cinnamon and sugar (this was the suggestion in the instructions).
My one and only complaint after using the machine is that the booklet only included one recipe! It was a good recipe, but I want to be able to choose from a variety of recipes and have some fun. :)
If you have a recipe you can share, please do!

Oh, I need one of these!
Happy birthday to you! I'd probably be as big as a house if I had one of those doughnut makers.
