Teaser Tuesday - The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

1. Grab your current read.
2. Let the book fall open to a random page.
3. Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. 4. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
5. Please avoid spoilers!

My 2 “Teaser” Sentences for today:

"'How many wives did your dad actually have?'

'I don't know, twenty-five-ish. But they never tell you that. I think it's a way to keep everything confused. . . '“

~ p.304, “The 19th Wife” by David Ebershoff

Product Description from Amazon:
Faith, I tell them, is a mystery, elusive to many, and never easy to explain.Sweeping and lyrical, spellbinding and unforgettable, David Ebershoff’s The 19th Wife combines epic historical fiction with a modern murder mystery to create a brilliant novel of literary suspense. It is 1875, and Ann Eliza Young has recently separated from her powerful husband, Brigham Young, prophet and leader of the Mormon Church. Expelled and an outcast, Ann Eliza embarks on a crusade to end polygamy in the United States. A rich account of a family’s polygamous history is revealed, including how a young woman became a plural wife.Soon after Ann Eliza’s story begins, a second exquisite narrative unfolds–a tale of murder involving a polygamist family in present-day Utah. Jordan Scott, a young man who was thrown out of his fundamentalist sect years earlier, must reenter the world that cast him aside in order to discover the truth behind his father’s death. And as Ann Eliza’s narrative intertwines with that of Jordan’s search, readers are pulled deeper into the mysteries of love and faith.

LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your two ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

Ooh! Interesting.

Thanks for stopping by. I was told by another Winvista user that you have to allow the computer to turn on the ActiveX function. I have a mac so I don't understand such things.

Great teaser but wow, what a mixed-up life that must be. "twenty-five-ish", ... Can't imagine my husband putting up with 25 like me! ;)

Thanks for visiting my Teaser. I liked yours as well. For some reason I thought this book was non-fiction - now that I see that it is fiction I have a bit more interest in checking it out. Thanks!

I love Georgette Heyer even though this is only the third book of hers that I am reading on my crowded reading list!
