I've Been Tagged: Some Christmas Fun

Kelly over at Enroute to Life tagged for "Some Christmas Fun" . . . so continue reading to learn about me and have a little Christmas Fun! :)

Some Christmas Fun

Answer these questions and then tag a person or two. Post these questions on your blog and link back to me.

This is a short quiz since we are all so busy this time of year.

1. What is your very first Christmas memory?

My first Christmas memory was when I was about five years old. Our family went to Hawaii to spend the holidays with my Aunt's family (my cousin is the same age as I am). The weather was so nice, and I had a bikini!! We had a Christmas tree in the main open room of the house. While we were there, there were really high winds and some type of weather warning. We all had to help bring things in from outside and put wood on the windows. I can remember hiking up Diamond Head (well, I remember the switch-backs and hiding and jumping out at our parents with my cousin). I also remember getting in trouble for not getting out of the water when my Aunt told me to (some fishermen were bringing in some type of stinging fish?? And she wasn't my Mom!!), and then again when I tried to make a Lei with the flowers in her yard. What a year! I think I got a Holly Hobby doll for Christmas that year, and I've still got it somewhere around here!

2. Do you have a favorite Christmas gift?

I can't remember how old I was, but Cabbage Patch Kids were brand new on the market, and you couldn't find them anywhere! If any store had them, they were sold-out within minutes! A few of my friends had them and I wanted one SO bad! My mom went out and bought the kits to make two for me (lol - I've still got them somewhere too!), along with clothes. I had so much fun, but that was also one of the years I learned to peak into the presents and re-wrap them so no-one would no . . . . oops!

3. Have you ever celebrated Christmas outside of your country?

Hmmm - nope - not unless you count Hawaii, which is not on this continent - lol!

4. What is your favorite Chrismtas decoration?
This one took a lot of thought, as this is my favorite time of year. I would have to say that a few of our ornaments are really meaningful to me. Every year, I pick out an ornament to represent my husband and my relationship. Then, in 2006, I was pregnant, and at 20 weeks was put on bedrest, then a few weeks later was moved into the hospital, where I remained for 3 months, ultimately delivering our son one month early. I was there from October 3rd thru December 23rd (they let me go home on the 23rd, I relaxed on the couch while relatives came over to help Kevin put the tree up, went to bed, and ended up in the hospital less than 12 hours after getting home!). While we were in the hospital, I watched life happen around me, including Kevin's Birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and I was afraid Christmas too! Kevin and my Mom went to Hallmark and just kept bringing me new Baby's First Christmas ornaments for 2006 . . . just in case! LOL - we got to bring Logan home on Christmas day, so we hung his ornaments too. I smile every time I see them!

5. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

We used to have a bunch of holiday traditions, and I'd say two tie for my favorite (although I'm sure that will be changing as we start new traditions with our son). We decorate and put up our tree the day after Thanksgiving, and we spend Christmas Morning at my parents for a big brunch with family.

6. Have you ever had a white Christmas?

It seems like when I was little we had a lot of white Christmases, but I think we've had more rainy ones than white ones. . . . although this year is shaping up to remain white for Christmas. It is snowing as I type, and they are predicting very cold weather between now and then, so a good chance of ice and white.

7. Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?

Yes - more when I was younger, but every now and then we join the carolers at the Greenlake Luminaries (second Saturday of December, they line the 3 miles of the walk around Greenlake with luminaries, and everyone goes walking at dark).

8. What is your favorite Christmas movie or story?

Hmmm - there are so many great movies and stories out there! I'd say that the traditional story of Jesus' birth has always been a favorite - I used to sit and play with the nativity set while my parents read the story. My husband took me on my first date night in about two-and-a-half years, and we went to see Four Christmases starring Reece Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn - it was so funny!

9. Do you have a Christmas link you would like to share?

If you have never checked out Elf Yourself, please do! It is a favorite of my niece and mine! Find some fun pictures of you, your family and your friends, and use them to create Elfs!! It is SO fun!!

Now who do I tag? I'd love to learn about your favorite Christmas memories and traditions!
